Business Development Manager – Livestock Specialist (USA)

Note: This position comes with commission structure and possibilities of compensation bonus – to be discussed when being presented with an offer.

Reporting Manager: Managing Director – North American Sales

Location: USA

Position Summary:

The objective of this role is to build the sales volume and awareness of all livestock opportunities, specifically the Epic building series designed for dairy and beef cattle throughout the entire USA Region. This role operates independently at the employee’s home office and customer locations, with timely & regular visits to the Wisconsin office in Mosinee WI.
All employees are to participate in, and positively contribute to the company culture, Health and Safety initiatives, continuous improvement and abide by the Employment Standards Act and all company policies and procedures while maintaining a customer service mindset.

Position Qualifications:

Education & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of dairy and beef operations
  • College diploma or degree in livestock management and husbandry or equivalent practical experience in the field
  • Knowledge of Animal husbandry and/or nutrition

Skills

  • Ability to prioritize and map out the days to maximize contact with prospective clients
  • Have the mindset of strategic building of clientele for long term success
  • Leverage existing company clients to maximize results
  • Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to work without daily direct supervision
  • Proven organizational, negotiation, communication, sales and problem-solving skills
  • Able to operate all Microsoft Suite programs

Experience

  • 10 + years sales experience
  • Strong background in animal husbandry and/or animal nutrition
  • Must have experience in Agricultural sales or as in the case of nutrition, agricultural consulting that leads to sales
  • Direct Sales Experience

Communication

  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact in a team environment with a team mindset

Responsibilities:

Dealer Support and Sales Strategy

  • Develop a strong sales strategy to maximize agricultural sales – emphasis on all livestock opportunities but general focus on Epic Building sales.
  • Drive direct sales through Britespan Fabric Buildings when opportunity aligns.
  • Take part at every step of the sales process “with” the dealer (if the sale is going through the dealer), always being aware of the next step, competitor influences, and customer resistance to close.
  • Provide dealer support and consultation on building design and layout to maximize lead conversions to sales.
  • Provide support and assist smaller dealers in taking on larger projects in concert with USA Business Development Managers.
  • Provide education on product strengths and weaknesses, especially pertaining to agricultural design.
  • Provide strong economic support to dealers to highlight fiscal advantages.
  • Develop and promote strategies to encourage dealers to expand into the agricultural building sector.
  • Follow-up on past leads and new leads that come in.

Market Analysis and Growth

  • Evaluate Britespan regional market share and identify and develop underdeveloped dealer areas.
  • Liaise with Corporate to address challenges, optimize quote opportunities, and drive regional dealer growth.
  • Work with Britespan Operations on forecasting, capacity planning, and inventory management.
  • Identify relevant trade shows and tours to attend and exhibit.
  • Attend trade shows and promote Britespan at relevant tours and conferences.
  • Produce a consistent stream of contact details to supporting staff members in order to capture and build large, ongoing contact databases of potential customers, influencers, funding sources and engineering services in our CRM.

Customer Engagement and Relationships

  • Take a lead role with high value leads in the full sales cycle from first contact, qualification stages, closing stages and contracting stage to include delegation to supporting staff – be the sales process driver.
  • Develop a strategy to connect with large Dairy and Beef producers.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with clients and industry influencers.
  • Fosters a team environment and positive culture.
  • Build and grow relationships with relevant agricultural industry partners.
  • Engage in developing and growing affiliates.

Information Management and Compliance

  • Maintain a full understanding of all aspects of Britespan; products, markets, manufacturing, and engineering, as well as competitor-equivalent products and relevant company and competitor channel programs/promotions.
  • Utilize and ensure compliance and utilization of CRM database.
  • Become OSHA-10 Certified and keep compliant practice while on any construction job site.
  • Ensure compliance with invoicing and collections schedule.
  • Have all presentations and quotes to customers reviewed by your manager before presenting to the customer.
  • All leads are to be summarized on the Agricultural Lead Intake Form and reviewed by your manager to confirm the assignment of lead as a BFB sale or a sale through a dealer.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned in support of the business
