This position starts September 2023

If you have experience and like to work with manufacturing robotics and other mechanical machinery, our Machine Operator role could be right up your alley! Working out of Britespan’s Wingham, Ontario, these skilled general labourers works with a variety of machinery and equipment to produce material used to fabricate our steel trusses. Equipment can include small and large robot welders, pipe benders, rollers, and cutters, and jigs. They will also be responsible for machine set up, troubleshooting, and repairs.

Full-time, Hourly new hires are eligible to earn a $500 signing bonus upon successful completion of their probationary period and an additional $500 after 1 year of service!

The position operates:

Available Shifts: Days or Afternoons

• Day shift Schedule hours are:
• Monday – Thursday OR Tuesday – Friday
• 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Overtime as needed

• Afternoon shift Schedule hours are:
• Monday – Thursday OR Tuesday – Friday
• 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM
• Afternoon Shift: Premium of $1.00 / hr
• Overtime as needed

Wage Scale:

• Probationary Rate: $21.50 (+ $1.00 Afternoon shift premium if applicable)
• Top Rate:$23.00 (+ $1.00 Afternoon shift premium if applicable)
• Opportunity for $1.00 / hr Quality Bonus / hr
• Pension & Benefits (after completing probation)

Physical Demands:

This position is very physically demanding, including:

• Lift and / or move 75+ lbs
• Carrying over 50+ lbs
• Walking
• Standing
• Sitting
• Outdoor weather conditions
• Working near mechanical parts

Education & Knowledge:

• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Manufacturing environment experience considered assets
• Knowledge of Lean principles, raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

Skills:

• Must be able to read a measuring tape
• Must be able to add and subtract using imperial measurements
• Strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations required
• Able to follow instructions
• Able to read a measuring tape
• Able to read blueprints and parts lists
• Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities

Experience:

• A minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing plant is preferred
• Experience in quality process and control will be an asset
• Effective troubleshooting skills

Communication:

• Good interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Maintain inventory levels of necessary production parts
• Load and unload material from machinery
• Responsible for maintaining the integrity of programs, fixtures and tooling
• Follow all safety procedures and wear all PPE required for the job
• Quality assurance of parts made
• Have attention to detail and accuracy
• Responsible to keep work area clean, orderly, and safe
• Inventory activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking
• May operate a forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods
• Programming and overall equipment operations
• Comfortable in a fast-paced working environment
• Other duties as assigned

• Web Bender (squisher, clipper, bender)
• Purlin Press
• Plasma Punch Table (coper, tumbler, table)
• Small part
• HSS
• Small Robot
• Big Robot
• Electrician / Electronics
• Mechanics

• Set up, troubleshoot, machine repairs, R&D
